I am frequently asked exactly how the SOFTEE® began, so I would like to take this opportunity to share my personal story with you.
In 1985, as a busy wife, mother of three, and an active member in my community, I was a most unlikely candidate to be diagnosed with breast cancer. At the age of 36, I underwent a modified radical mastectomy of the right breast. Unfortunately, four years later I had a reoccurrence which required a second mastectomy.
I discovered that there was nothing available to be worn immediately following surgery to help me feel comfortable, protected, and most importantly, restore the shape I had lost. Why was it that no one had ever addressed what to wear when you cannot tolerate a bra or prosthesis? As the saying goes, "necessity is the mother of invention." In my case this certainly proved to be true.

When I originally designed the SOFTEE® it was for my own use, but I realized this wonderful product could make a positive difference for all women recovering from breast surgery.
Since 1990, SOFTEE® has come a long way in creating a market where none had been before. We introduced the first specialized product for immediately following breast surgery. We have worked diligently to acquire Medicare coverage, and in many cases, private insurance coverage for the SOFTEE®. Now with the launch of SofteeUSA.com, women anywhere in the USA can conveniently order SOFTEE® products from the privacy of their own homes.
When someone asks if it has been worth all the long hours and hard work, I say "ABSOLUTELY." All over the world the SOFTEE® is making a difference to women. This is deeply rewarding to me.
