Medicare with Supplemental (Secondary) Insurance
Medicare will pay 80% of the allowable towards a SOFTEE®. The actual dollar amount reimbursed will vary from state to state. If you have supplemental insurance coverage in addition to Medicare it will generally cover some or all of the costs that Medicare does not pay.
In some instances Medicare will automatically bill your supplemental insurance. There are occasions when Medicare does not bill for you so it is your responsibility to do so.
To bill supplemental insurance all that is required is to provide a copy of your completed, signed 1490S form, and a copy of the Medicare reimbursement payment you received and mail directly to your supplemental insurance company.
